Activity:

Handed out a series of full and partial activity packets to participants who analyzed them for potential repurposing as retrospective activities.

* Comments *

Ainsley - Wreck Survivors - Particularly useful for release Retros (or in Retros where there is longer time allowed), so leading information planning - Warmup with concepts relating strategy to tactics, then do for real.

Ainsley - Personal Learning Insights Profile “Understanding Personal Learning Approaches” - Use in a simplified form as a check-in with slider format, about each team member's learning preferences (learning purpose: practical to informative; learning structure: specific to general; learning activity: participative to reflective

Eric - It'll Never Fly, Wilbur - could use in Retros for generate insights (identify possible roadblocks or barriers) and as a lead-in for decide what to do; similar to Ropes/Fuels with group collaboration

Ervin - I'm All Ears - listening skills focus - a good game for a manager training program me. Not really usable in Retrospectives but applicable if the team has e.g. communication problems, in order to show how well do people listen to each other and think about how to improve it.

John - Wiggles - Good for Roles on Teams training - about relationships among leaders' behaviors, member's goals, productivity - Not for Retrospectives but for team building

Eric - Marvin Melons - Better suited for training, could potentially be used for longer (1+ day) Retros as an exercise to practice coming to consensus/compromise

Linda - Decent but Pesky Co-Worker - Language is dated, concept of contracting skills may confuse people working in an Agile environment; activity is well-structured; given an open workspace this activity's usefulness has passed; May be useful for managers who still work in offices; this activity could be used in a retrospective when the pesky co-worker emerges; consider creating a similar learning activity for leadership with a goal of learning how to make a request vs a demand (note: Linda would be willing to draft the request vs demand activity)

Charlotte, Laura & John - Crossword + Team Roles - Needed better instructions

Laura - Dimensions of Trust - Timeless! Small groups (5-6) work together to build a 3-D representation of feelings and elements involved in trust with any kind of building toys (legos, tinker toys, etc.) or collage materials. Each group presents to others. etc.

* Discussed the difference between activities for retrospective and activities for training *
